Services Not Provided - We do not perform in-patient hospital care or obstetrics. If you should require non-specialist hospitalization, we have contracted with internists at the Alaska Hospitalist Group to admit and care for our in-patients. Upon discharge they return our patients back to us with detailed information regarding the hospitalization and any necessary follow-up care. By calling the clinic after normal business hours, your doctors can be paged. At our earliest opportunity we will assist you in determining the best course of action, whether home care, urgent care, or the emergency room. If you are being evaluated in the Emergency Room and require general admittance to a hospital, ask the physician to page the Alaska Hospitalist doctor on call.

Important things you need to know to help promote efficiency -

You must be very clear when requesting an appointment. Please specify exactly what type of appointment you would like and which physician you would prefer. Appointments are generally scheduled to be twenty minutes long for single “uncomplicated” problems. Examples of uncomplicated problems are sinusitis, ear infection, shoulder pain, or hypertension. Patients with multiple problems should request extra time when scheduling their appointments.

In consideration for other patients and the doctor, we require at least a twenty-four hour notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointment times must be honored.
Financial responsibility – Payments, co-pays, and deductible amounts are due in full at the time of service, unless prior arrangements have been made. As a courtesy, we will bill most insurance carriers for you if the proper paperwork is provided. We do not bill Champus/Tricare, auto accident insurances, or other liability or lawsuit cases. You will be asked for cash or credit card payment at the time of your appointment. We are not Medicaid, Denali Kid Care, or Medicare providers. If you should choose to accept Medicare Part B, according to current federal law, your ongoing medical care must be with a Medicare provider. Remember, extra time and extra things cost extra money. If this is of concern to you, please ask for prices before receiving additional tests or getting prescriptions.

Prescriptions – In general, prescriptions for chronic medications are written for 6 months at a time. Refills for chronic medications are designed to expire at the time the next follow up visit is required. For other refills, we prefer you to call our automated telephone system, and use the refill request option. Requests will be processed by 10pm the following business day. You will be notified when we have faxed the prescription, however, to verify that your prescription is ready, please call the pharmacy prior to leaving home. The website www.costco.com is a great source for up-to-date information on both the cost and the side effects of almost any medication.
